Cathy Simpson (Thelma) exclaims "I am so happy to make my New City Stage debut with, 'Night Mother" nearly every day! She has been a company member at People's Light since 1994. Cathy has also performed with Philadelphia Theatre Company, Interact Theatre, Freedom Theatre, Philadelphia Young Playwrights, Philly Shakespeare Theatre, Wilma Theater and Arden Theatre. Her regional credits include the Studio Theatre, Arena Stage, The Kennedy Center, Woolly Mammoth, Olney Theatre Center, Metro Stage, Roundhouse Theatre, St. Louis Black Repertory Theatre, and St. Louis Rep. Cathy is a 2002 Barrymore Award winner for her performance in Freedom Theatre's production of The Old Settler. She has recently won a Kevin Kline Award in St. Louis for her performance in The Black Rep's production of A Song for Coretta. Cathy is a member of Freedom Rising Company at the National Constitution Center.

Wendy Staton (Jessie) is thrilled to be in her second production with New City Stage Company, having performed in Miss Witherspoon (Jesus Christ and Teacher) this past winter. She's performed locally including the Arden Theatre (Our Town), Kimmel Center (2008 Live Arts: Jerome Bel's the show must go on), Shakespeare in Clark Park (Comedy of Errors & Romeo and Juliet), Delaware Shakespeare Festival (Romeo and Juliet), in Pig Iron's Love Unpunished, as Miss Reyes in In Arabia We'd All Be Kings, and in 2009 Fringe's Hermitage and Hard Times at the Camera Blanca. Last season, Wendy was in Swim Pony's Survive! and Gas and Electric Art's Between Trains. She is currently a resident performer in the National Constitution Center's Freedom Rising. Most recently, in the America I Am Exhibit at the National Geographic Museum in Washington DC, she revived her role as Sgt. Taylor in the one-woman show, She Went to War, which originated at the NCC. She is featured in national campaigns for Amtrak (print) and American Diabetes Association (TV). She received a BA and JD from Columbia University. Next up: Swim Pony's Lady M in the 2011 Philadelphia Live Arts Festival. Many thanks to Ginger and Russ for the opportunity to work with the phenomenal Cathy, Rosey, and crew; and to my family for their endless support.
